THOSE MARVELOUS MARES

"A" To "ZENYATTA"

This is the first public announcement concerning a new book under construction. As most of you are aware, my 2007 book "SEABISCUIT - THE REST OF THE STORY" was well received by horse enthusiasts as well as by ardent Seabiscuit fans.

I am now doing research on mares who have achieved stardom as race mares as well as foal producers. The book will include mares foaled between 1940 and the present time. My plan is to select between 80 and 90 mares and write a few pages about each of them.

I have made a list of mares that I would like to include. Unfortunately, I ended up with 239 mares on the list. All of the mares were "marvelous" achievers and determining which to eliminate is a major problem.

My reason for making this annoucement is that I would like to include interested fans in the selection process. I'd like comments and suggestions from my readers.

Some of my questions are the following:

1. Which mares should be included?


2. Should the mares be presented alphabetically or chronologically?


3. Should the mares be presented by decades? In other words, each of the sections would include outstanding mares from the 1940"s, 1950"s, etc.

Please don't limit your comments to the ones listed. Any other suggestions will be appreciated
